The Nagoya office opened in April 1972 as a base in the Chukyo region, where major Japanese aerospace companies have factories. It is conveniently located at the center of the city traffic network in Kanayama, the center of Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture.
The Nagoya Office is in charge of examining and evaluating the design, manufacturing, and tests on all materials, parts, and systems for space-related products including launch vehicles, satellites, and the International Space Station (ISS) in order to guarantee the reliability and the quality of products manufactured by space equipment-related makers. In other words, the office is engaging in maintaining and improving the reliability and quality guarantee of the development of space-related equipment.
The office is currently inspecting the Japanese flagship rocket H-IIA, H-IIB and the H-II Transfer Vehicle (HTV), which transports goods and materials to the ISS that are necessary for living and research.
