The Washington D.C. Office serves as JAXA's liaison with the headquarters of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Other operations include the monitoring of relevant activities of the Office of the President, of Congress, and of local aerospace-related industries, as well as public relations and the introduction of JAXA's activities to the people of the United States.

JAXA's Houston Office, which covers the southern area of the United States, serves mainly as a liaison office with NASA's Johnson Space Center (JSC). The JSC manages manned space programs, for which JAXA's Houston Office offers an extensive range of assistance, including the training of astronauts, the development and operation of the International Space Station, and space experiments using the Space Shuttle.

JAXA's Bangkok Office supports the Thailand group receiving station operated by the Space Technology Center's Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), in the Ladkrabang District of Bangkok, and works with GISTDA to promote practical applications of JAXA's remote sensing data to the public in Southeast Asia. It also serves as JAXA's liaison office with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), GISTDA, the Asian Institute of Technology, and other space-related institutes, by collecting information and carrying out public relations.

The JAXA Moscow Office is set to open in April 2011 to support the training and activities of Japanese astronauts in Russia and its vicinity areas and their travel to space by Soyuz. The office also plays an important role in coordinating with space agencies in Russian regions concerning the International Space Station project and space experiments.
