To Preserve Our Earth ∼ JAXA's efforts to contribute to environmental issues ∼
Recently, people the world over are showing more serious concern about environmental issues. International meetings have been held and various strategies have been adopted to attempt to solve the problems. Indeed, environmental issues will be the major theme of the G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit in July 2008. JAXA's long-term goals include launching a satellite to observe the entire Earth to help us investigate the causes of environmental problems, and more accurately predict global warming. Using knowledge cultivated in space, JAXA can also help develop technologies to protect the environment, such as advanced trash recycling. Earth's environmental crisis is an issue that concerns every human being. To continue to live safe, peaceful lives, we must stop global warming. We will now introduce you to JAXA's environment strategy and projects that are planned to deal with environmental issues.
