Return to the Moon - Pursuing Our Destiny in the Sky -
“One small step for Man, one giant step for Mankind.” With those words, Neil Armstrong took his first steps on the moon. Humans landed on the moon six times from 1969 to 1972, but never again since then. Now, we earthlings are finally going back to the moon. NASA has announced plans to build a human base in the lunar polar region by 2024. And Japan's lunar orbit satellite SELENE (SELenological and ENgineering Explorer) is going to be launched this summer. In this section, international scientists share updates on the world's lunar missions and their opinions on why it's important for humans to go to the moon.
