Katsuura Tracking and Communication Station

At the Katsuura Tracking and Communication Station, there is a tracking and control facility, power supply facility, and the Nonozuka collimation tower (on Nonozuka Mountain) in addition to the two parabolic antennas that are 13 meters and 10 meters in diameter, respectively. For visitors, we have a space development exhibit hall and panel corner. There is also an 18-meter parabolic antenna for visitors to maneuver.

Exhibits

Open: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
daily (except the Antenna Operation Room, which is closed on Saturday, Sunday, and national holidays)

1. Space Development Exhibit Hall

Miniature models of the H-IIB, H-IIA, H-II, J-I, Kibo and satellites, and images from weather satellites are on display. There is also a tracking and control simulation.


2. Panel Display

Panel displays show images of the Earth from space and have information on global warming, ozone-layer damage, and global environmental problems.


3. Antenna Operation Room

A console for controlling the antenna (18 meters in diameter) is in the room. In addition, we exhibit scale models of launch vehicles and satellites.
