AKATSUKI Venus orbit injection support events

On Dec. 7, The Venus Climate Orbiter "AKATSUKI" will finally be inserted into its Venus orbit. Sagamihara Campus will hold some events to support AKATSUKI's successful trip.
We will observe Venus before the AKATSUKI arrives there, then broadcast the scene of the Control Room when the AKATSUKI is injected into the orbit. By watching this public viewing, you may feel as if you are also in the Control Room.
We are looking forward to seeing many people who support AKATSUKI's orbit injection at the Campus.

'Sagamihara Campus Special Open-house 2010' completed

The annual special open-house event was held at the Sagamihara Campus on July 30 (Fri.) and 31 (Sat.) With the exhibition of HAYABUSA, which returned to the Earth after a long space journey, the event was jammed with a huge crowd as expected, but it was fortunate that no one got sick from heat exhaustion, and we were very pleased that everyone seemed to enjoy the event.
We recorded 14,216 visitors on the first day, and 19,645 on the second day, for a total of 33,831.
The number of visitors to the special exhibition of the HAYABUSA capsule at the Sagamihara City Museum reached some 13,000 on the first day, and 17,000 on the second day. We heard that many people opted to visit only one of the two exhibition sites as the waiting lines were too long.
Please look forward to the next year's event!

AKATSUKI message plate replica exhibited

JAXA started to exhibit the replica of the message plate loaded onto the Venus Climate Orbiter "AKATSUKI" at the Sagamihara Campus's exhibition hall.
The message plate carries messages that were sent from you during the AKATSUKI message campaign. The real one is, of course, attached to the AKATSUKI to travel to Venus. Please come and take a look at the replica at the Sagamihara Campus.
