International Rights
and Obligations

1. |
The Space Station shall be developed,
operated, and utilized in accordance with international law, including
the Outer Space Treaty, the Rescue Agreement, the Liability Convention,
and the Registration Convention. |
2. |
Nothing in this Agreement shall be interpreted
as:
(a) |
modifying the rights and obligations
of the Partner States found in the treaties listed in paragraph
1 above, either toward each other or toward other States, except
as otherwise provided in Article 16; |
(b) |
affecting the rights and obligations
of the Partner States when exploring or using outer space, whether
individually or in cooperation with other States, in activities
unrelated to the Space Station; or |
(c) |
constituting a basis for asserting
a claim to national appropriation over outer space or any portion
of outer space. |
