Section II Objectives 1. The objectives of the Project are to: a. Develop the analytical methods, algorithms and data extraction techniques necessary to measure and characterize the oceanographic phenomena of coastal and shallow water regions, as well as oil spills, from SAR observations. b. Conduct the research necessary to advance the means of processing, analyzing and characterizing the SAR-derived measurement of ship and shipwakes to define ship location, speed and ship-hull type over a broad range of surface ships; c. Develop sea ice algorithms to define ambient noise and over-ice/under-ice roughness from SAR-based measurements of ice motion and surface roughness, respectively; d. Analyze SAR potential to obtain Information relative to seabed topography; and e. Conduct demonstration projects to validate the utility of the applications developed.
