4-2-2-16 AGREEMENT AMONG THE GOVERNMENT OF CANADA,GOVERNMENT OF THE EUROPEAN SPACE AGENCY,THE GOVERNMENT OF JAPAN,THE GOVERNMENT OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION,AND THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA CONCERNING COOPERATION ON THE CIVIL INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION

Article 5

Registration; Jurisdiction and Control

In accordance with Article II of the Registration Convention, each Partner shall register as space objects the flight elements listed in the Annex which it provides, the European Partner having delegated this responsibility to ESA, acting in its name and on its behalf.

Pursuant to Article VIII of the Outer Space Treaty and Article II of the registration Convention, each Partner shall retain jurisdiction and control over the elements it registers in accordance with paragraph 1 above and over personnel in or on the Space Station who are its nationals. The exercise of such jurisdiction and control shall be subject to any implementing arrangements, including relevant procedural mechanisms established therein.
